Bartender Wars

There's a new show on the Fine Living Network (FLN), the new home network of Zane Lamprey's Three Sheets: Bartender Wars. It's a short and sweet half-hour show on Friday nights (I've been DVRing it) that pits 3 bartenders against each other in various types of challenges. There is always a theme liquor of the night such as cognac, tequila and most recently, even beer!

Challenges include such things as open-ended quizzes based on the theme liquor (ex: what are the 4 ingredients that make up beer?), a dartboard challenge in which each bartender throws a dart at a board full of drink ingredients (some of which are peculiar) having to make a drink with all ingredients they land on and usually a happy hour challenge when each bartender tries to gain popularity among the crowd by serving drinks.

I liked the beer episode because they used Rogue beer, a favorite of mine, among some others and it was intriguing to see them make beer cocktails, a trend that I've seen and heard a good deal amount but haven't really tried personally. I'm sure that will change soon and I'll be sure to post my thoughts/recipes. Bartender Wars, rather than a week-by-week reality show, has 3 new bartender contestants every week. It's interesting to see their personalities and the drinks that they make. Check it out Fridays on FLN at 10:30 PM.
